With spring just around the corner, it’s time to get ready for that annual spring cleaning. In preparation for cleaning your rental home in Decatur, you’ll be amazed at some of the useful tips we have to help you get started.
How to Clean a Microfiber Couch
Spray enough rubbing alcohol on your couch’s stains to saturate the spills. Then use a white sponge to vigorously rub and remove them. If the sponge gets too soiled before you are finished removing the stains, use a new sponge to finish so you don't rub the dirt back in. After you finish scrubbing the area, allow it to dry completely, then use a clean white bristled scrub brush on the area, in a swirling motion, to bring the fabric back to life.
Keeping Static Cling at Bay
Dryer sheets can reduce absorbency in your towels. Instead, when you wash your towels and clothing, add a quarter cup of white vinegar during the rinse cycle to eliminate static cling.
Shining Up Your Shower Doors
A little lemon oil rubbed onto the glass door of your shower will make your doors shine, as well as make them more resistant to water residue, keeping them cleaner. Apply this twice a month in your house rentals or if you prefer, twice a year you can use one of the products sold in auto care stores made to repel rain off windshields.
Dishwasher Deep Cleaning
Place some baking soda on a damp sponge and wipe around the edges of your dishwasher weekly to clean away food residue. For the inside, use a disinfecting dishwasher cleaner. During flu season, adding 1/4 cup of bleach to your dishwasher before you start the cycle can kill bacteria; allow the rinse cycle to fully complete prior to using the dishes.
Zap Your Microwave Clean
You may think cleaning up a microwave is no fun in your rental home in Decatur, but we've got a tip that makes it easy. Mix together one cup of hot water and one cup of vinegar in a microwavable bowl or measuring cup, and microwave for five to 10 minutes, depending on the strength of your microwave oven. Carefully, using pot holders, remove the bowl. Then, using a damp sponge or cloth, simply wipe down the inside.
Cleaning Sponges and Dish Brushes
Bacteria can build up quickly in a sponge. You can clean your sponge by first dampening it, then microwaving it on high for one to two minutes. Do this every few days or so. However, be sure it's damp to prevent it from catching fire. You can keep your dish scrub brush clean by either coating it each day with a disinfecting spray or by simply running it through the dishwasher.
Garbage Disposal Cleaning
In house rentals, disposals may need some extra attention. Cutting up a lemon to grind up in your disposal will eliminate odors. If you also include some ice cubes and some salt, it will clean up any leftover residue from your disposal as well.
